Refurbishment of the historic Sudbury Library

We recently completed some interesting works to the 1841, Grade II listed Corn Exchange building in Sudbury, which since 1968 has been the town’s library.

The work involved refurbishing and decorating the main facade of the building, including detailed restoration of the stucco and statue on the roof.

Our craftsmen fully removed 2 large cracked panels of render on the rear elevation, replacing it with breathable lime render and we externally refurbished the eight roof lanterns that form part of the stunning atrium roof.  During the course of our works, we ensured that the library could remain open to the public throughout.

We replaced broken panes of glass to the elaborate glazing, templating the units and fabricating traditional floated glass, installing this with lime putty to support the building’s Grade II listing.
