The owners bought a tired 1960s detached house near Aldeburgh with a view to creating a modern energy-efficient home. They commissioned Stowe to completely transform the building by the addition of several side extensions, new roofs and external wall cladding. A high priority was to have a home with excellent energy efficiency. No small ask when refurbishing rather than building new but when assessed the building scored an impressive 96%!
Working to designs by Architect Simon Simmonds we removed and moved a number of interior walls and built extensions on several sides of the house. An extended kitchen with full-length bi-fold windows with integral louvered blinds was a major element.
We installed a feature staircase and new floors throughout with efficient air-sourced underfloor heating. Our bespoke joinery workshop created new fitted cupboards and other fittings.
