Open-plan toilet zone for Kesgrave High School

Knock two rooms into one to create a unified space, reinforce ceiling span and fit out as open-plan male and female toilet zone

This project involved modernising the toilet areas in the sixth-form block at Kesgrave High School to create a pro-social, open-plan design for males and females. We knocked two separate spaces into one and introduced a central divider. This project also included the creation of a new fully accessible toilet.

A particular challenge was presented by the requirement for a new one-tonne steel to support the weight of the ceiling. A temporary scaffold was built to allow the steel to be eased into place without destabilising the existing building.
