Seafront Renovation

Full refurbishment. Two outdated houses become one with wheelchair access and modern facilities. Great sea views.

The outdated layout of these twin seafront villas required extensive modernisation in order to facilitate visits by the owner’s son who is a wheelchair user.

The plan included combining the two houses into one with improved access throughout the ground floor and the addition of a fully accessible bathroom.

We created new doorways on both levels, replaced many of the floors, widened some of the existing doorways and replaced many of the windows. Our carpenters made new doors and dado rails to match those that were to be retained.

Asbestos-based Artex was identified in some areas of one of the houses necessitating stripping the interior back to the timber-frame and re-making the walls throughout the house. This provided the opportunity for us to renew the mechanical and electrical systems.

The final outcome presents a coherent style throughout the interior providing a practical solution that retains many original features.
